Anything New?

I’m always hesitant about jumping back into Blakeney genealogy research.  While it’s always fun to visit old “friends,” in terms of looking back over the list of familiar names and places, for the last several years at least, it leads to more dead ends and just a little frustration.

As far as I’m aware, nothing new has been found when it comes to researching Capt. John Blakeney’s family, either his ancestors or immediate descendants (children, grandchildren, etc.), but there is always that chance that something real has found its way to the internet since the last time I checked.  Should I dive back into it, or maybe just dip a toe in the water and see what happens?

It’s so tempting…

Hello “Cousin Hester” I was so happy to receive your messages today. I do hope that you will indeed dip your toe back into the Blakeney research!

I have recently found some information that was new to me but may not be new to you. There is a blog that references Thomas Blakeney (son of William). Thomas Blakeney left Chesterfield County and settled in Alabama. Some of his descendants married into the Holliman family. The blog is hollimanfamilyhistoryblogspot.com/search/label/Thomas%20Blakeney. It is a lengthy post with lots of interesting information. Note on the left side of the page under the Email Us header. See manuscripts. When you click on, it says there are 100 pages of material related to the Blakeney s that are available. Thomas Blakeney was a brother to my 4x great grandmother Christiana Blakeney Funderburk. The 1950s photo of Belzey Ann Blakeney bears a remarkable resemblance to several of my relatives. I hope this has been helpful. My best wishes to you…..
